New Layout & Back to My Roots

Hello again! Some of you might have noticed some tiny changes to my site. Yes, the cute pixel layout is gone, sorry. I know many liked it. I hope that this new layout will bring you joy too. For me it certainly does as I felt like I wasn't really at home when I entered my site with the previous lay.

So why aren't I cute pixel pixie? Why don't I use pastel colours and cute fluffy tiny fonts with a lot of sparkles around and an adorable cursor that practically screams at you to hug it? I guess I have aged. Lol, not really. As a person I actually am cynical. And yes, I've been told many times I'm not cynical but I really am. I'm not judging cute sites or people who love cute things, not at all. I'm more like happy that people like it and can relate to it. I just can't. I never could, because I'm kinda dark person.

This layout isn't dark, it's actually pretty light for something I've made. But there are dark elements. Maybe someone might think that this layout represents being on fire, like in a good way. But as a "dark" person, I think it represents me being on fire like being in predicament. I've been in a mental predicament for the past 15 years and only now I start to see there's something else than eternal darkness in life. So it might be just burning the old papers and start anew.

I don't know. I'm bad at interpreting things because I have a really bad imagination, practically non-existent. So let's just stop here and talk about the old layout and why it's now gone. First off, I remember entering the indieweb community by happy accident and the first dozen of sites were anime related cute sites. Again, I'm not judging even though I sound like I am. Anyway, as being a human and having an urge to belong to a community, to fit in, I wanted to make something totally out of the box for me. I wanted to make cute, tiny font pixel cottage core hatchwork. Yes, I think it was hatchwork x_x So I did it. It was actually quite fun but in the long run I grew out of it and it felt more and more distant.

Yes, it's been a full month since I released the first version of this website, and I'm already going on the second layout :D The first layout was done really fast so I could show it off and see if people in the community accept me. But on the other hand I just showed them something they might have wanted to see. I ignored what and who I really am and how I want to represent myself through my works and layouts.

So here we are now, at home again. It might be a bit messy still but at least I can claim it my own. You can still find the old layout in the about site past layouts section.

Hello, I love the new layout and also I relate a lot to what you said about why you changed to it. Sometimes you get so distracted in trying to make your site pretty that you forget to make it also reflect yourself. I did the same mistake when I first started my indie site so it's really comforting to read that I am not alone in feeling that way.

I really love the symbolism of your sites theming. wishing you a lovely day.

Exactly! I actually thought I could bear the old layout a bit longer but it felt like I was pretending to be something. I'm happy the entry brought some comfort to you, not happy you had to go throught the same.

By the way, it was you I stole the idea of a link tree from, I really liked it and I think it creates a lot of clarity to the navigation.

I hope you'll have a nice week!
